Steamed Lapu-Lapu a la Kerslyn
![]()
It’s time for Food Trip Friday! My entry is my HR partner and graduate school classmate turned friend and wedding godmother’s (Ninang Janet’s) especialty. I and Ace had dinner at their rented place 7 years ago (we are not yet married that time). She prepared a Steamed Lapu-Lapu with soy sauce and oil as the sauce. She actually told me the procedure in making the sauce but all I can recall is mix the soy sauce when the oil is already hot and cover the pan to prevent splatter. As to how the fish was steamed, I just used my imagination. Anyway, here’s my version of Ninang Janet’s Steamed Lapu-Lapu.

Everybody (including my sister and BIL) loved it! Promise! And I am sure Ace will request this dish over and over again. After everybody has eaten, here’s what the fish looks like…

For the recipe:
1) Marinate Lapu-Lapu in salt, freshly ground pepper and calamansi juice (Philippine Lemon) juice.
2) Steam fish for about 15 minutes or until done
3) Saute minced garlic in oil then add soy sauce and finely chopped ginger. Leave it on fire for about 2 minutes or until you can see the soy sauce separates from the oil.
4) Add a teaspoon of olive oil
5) Pour sauce into the steamed Lapu-Lapu and garnish with chopped parsley
Now enjoy your steamed Lapu-Lapu in oil and soy sauce…steamed Lapu-Lapu ala Kerslyn
