Got a pack of Sampaloc (Tamarind) candy during our last visit in the grocery. I am not a sucker of this sweet and sour candy but I am craving for this at times.

This candy reminds me of my childhood. My grandmother makes Tamarind candy from the fruits of their Tamarind tree in the backyard. I love my granny’s candy more than the ones sold in the stores because the sugar is caramelized unlike the ones sold in stores now where it seems I am like eating Sampaloc-flavored sugar granules. These candies are the same with the ones sold by sidewalk vendors selling candies and others. When I crave for this sweet and sour candy before, and granny is not making Sampaloc Candy anymore because their old huge tree already died, I used to buy beside the stall of the “Manong” that repair leather shoes and other items made of leather such as bags.
Cravings for Sampaloc Candy finally satisfied. And the catch is, I ate it while I am having abdominal cramps.LOL.
